The Himalayan region of Uttarakhand is a treasure trove for trekkers and adventure enthusiasts, offering a multitude of stunning trails and picturesque landscapes. Among these hidden gems lies Agoda, a small village tucked away in the district of Uttarkashi. Serving as the base camp for treks such as the Dodital Darwa Pass, Agoda is a doorway to a world of pristine natural beauty and awe-inspiring trekking adventures.
In this article, we'll guide you on how to reach Agoda through different modes of transport depending on your convenience.
The nearest major city to Agoda is Dehradun, which is 160 kms away.
1) Flight
One can reach Dehradun by flying into Jolly Grant Airport which is located at a distance of 27 kms from the city. There are regular direct flights available from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and connecting flights from all other major cities.
2) Bus from Delhi
Dehradun is located at a distance of 257 kms from Delhi. Both government and private buses ply regularly between Delhi and Rishikesh. The distance is usually covered in 6-7 hours and the cost of the bus ticket ranges anywhere between Rs. 300-700.
3) Train from Delhi
There are daily trains that run between Delhi and Dehradun. Janshatabdi Express, Mussoorie Express and DDN Shatabdi Express run on an everyday basis. These trains take approximately 7 hours to cover the distance and the cost of the ticket ranges between Rs.200-1500 depending on your train and coach preference.
1) By Bus
There are no direct buses to Agoda from Dehradun. A convenient option would be to take a bus to Uttarkashi. Both government and private buses are available from Dehradun to Uttarkashi. Agoda is approximately 23 kilometers from Uttarkashi, and the drive takes roughly 1-2 hours. You can hire a local taxi or take a shared cab from Uttarkashi to reach Agoda.
2) By direct Cab
One can hire a cab from Dehradun to reach Agoda directly. The fare is usually upwards of Rs.1500 depending on the number of persons and the type of vehicle being hired.
Traveling with Bikat
We provide shared taxi services as an add-on for our trek participants to help them reach the base camp with ease. The shared taxi starts from Dehradun early in the morning and reaches Agoda by evening.
